Downtown Winston Salem

Our General Contractor has years of experience with restoring homes designated within historic districts. Making changes to properties that are designated as historic landmarks or in historic districts, due to their historical, prehistorical, architectural, or cultural significance, must have their plans reviewed and approved by the Historic Preservation Commission.

The Commission’s primary responsibility is to prevent changes to a landmark or in a district that could be incongruous (not in keeping) with the special character of the landmark or district. The standards state there should be minimal change to the defining characteristics of the site and features should be repaired rather than replaced. The age and deterioration of these homes can cause challenges but our team’s knowledge, experience and attention to detail has helped make us successful in the historic remodeling division.
